First, you will need to determine what type of
finish you have on your wood floor. If it's
Waterbone Swedish finish, Oil Based
Polyurethane or UV Cured urethane, these are
synthetic finishes and require very little
maintenance. Dusting is very important.
Remember that dust, no matter how fine, is
abrasive to your floor. With all wood floors
keep mats at all outside entrances. Synthetic
finishes can be cleaned with vinegar and water
solutions with a 15:1 ratio or glass cleaner.
We recommend never using after market
cleaners or soap/oil soap for any reason. If
you are in doubt about what you are using,
wipe some on a window and let it dry. If it
leaves a film on the window DO NOT put it on
your floor.
Waxed, Tung oil or Danish oil finishes should be rewaxed or buffed about once a
year. We recommend a professional do this. Never use water to clean these types of
finishes. Wipe up spills promptly and apply wax or finish to these areas. Again, keep
your floors dusted and use mats at all outside entrances.
